Carpet See the California Gold Sustainable Carpet Standard and Management Memo 06-08. After August 31, 2006, carpet purchased by state agencies shall meet as a minimum the California Gold Sustainable Carpet Standard whenever three or more manufacturers meet this standard. Check this list of carpets for those meeting "California Gold" or "California Platinum" or use the DGS list of approved carpets.

CMAS contracts: A CMAS carpet contract may have numerous products, but only a few of them may have the correct backing to qualify as "California Gold." Anyone looking for California Gold certified carpet through the CMAS Program must 1) check the CMAS Contracts with Green/Recycled Content Web page (to search that page, hit the "Ctrl" and "F" keys, and search for "carpet.") to determine which CMAS contracts are active that contain California Gold certified carpet products and/or backing systems, 2) check the Green California Web site to determine which manufacturer's carpet product or backing system has been certified as meeting the standard, and 3) require the seller to provide a copy of the Scientific Certification Systems (third party) certification with the bid and delivery of product.
Includes postconsumer content, low air emissions, reclamation, durability, life cycle assessment process, environmental policy.
Cleaning Products See Maintenance, repair and operations contracts for janitorial supplies. Look for products with Green Seal certification. Lower toxicity and air emissions, recycled packaging, some chemicals prohibited.
Computers, monitors, printers

Desktop units, notebooks (a.k.a. laptops) and monitors: look for products with Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) certification.
